Patterns and Puzzles

  • Milk a cow: fill a rubber glove with milk and poke a small hole in the end of each finger. Have the children milk the “udders” into a small bucket.  If you have a stool, straw hats and rubber boots the kids will love to dress up.
  • Farm animal charades: each child can act like an animal and the others can guess.
  • Make butter! Place some heavy cream in a baby food jar. Have the kids shake the jar.  If desired, mix in a pinch of salt and a few drops of yellow food coloring.  Spread the butter on crackers for kids to taste.  If you insert a clean marble into the jar, it will not need to be shaken as long.

Snowflakes Falling

Snowball Catch
Crinkle up white photo copy paper. Pretend they are snowballs and have a catch with them.

Pasta Snowflake
Make a baser for the snowflake by gluing three craft sticks together so that it creates six different points; then set it aside to dry.
Next glue an assortment of pasta shapes to the base and allow the glue to dry.
Then paint the project with white tempura paint and sprinkle with glitter.
Finally, attach white satin ribbon to the project for hanging.

Snowflakes A-Fallin'
tune: She'll Be Coming Around the Mountain

Oh, the snowfalls are a fallin from the sky!
Oh, the snowflakes are a fallin from the sky!
With this frosty little flurry
It'll be white in a hurry!
Oh, the snowflakes are a fallin from the sky!
